The Small Hydropower Chapter of the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF) promotes the interests of the small hydropower sector by, among others, supporting the promotion of the use of renewable energy and European know-how, expertise and products.
Traditionally, many European hydropower companies and producers seek business opportunities outside the EU, especially in Africa and Latin America. EREF promotes these activities by acting as information hub between European, African and international initiatives and European renewable energy stakeholders.
Description and aim of the event:
It aims to create opportunities for partnership and project development by bringing together leading project developers and key financing institutions.
Introduction of the opportunities for hydropower development in Africa and the various services concerning legal, financial and administrative issues of the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP).
The hydropower workshop will discuss, analyse and map solutions to the challenges to financing small and medium hydropower plants in Africa. It aims to create opportunities for partnership and project development by bringing together leading project developers and key financing institutions. Selected case studies will be presented, and a panel of top experts will elucidate and discuss key issues facing the sector.
The RECP is a programme of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), a partnership between the European Union and the African Union
