Together strong for the international energy future! In 2018 we were able to introduce renowned experts from various partner countries and regions in Salzburg as part of the RENEXPO INTERHYDRO.

We're about to plan all international workshops and presentations for 2019 right now - more information coming soon!

  • Increase of the hydropower capacities

Hydropower accounts for almost 20% of installed capacity in France, second only to its nuclear capacity. With 25,397 MW of hydropower capacity currently installed, France is seeking to increase hydropower capacity by at least 30.000 MW by 2020.

Hydropower generation facilities are located all over France. Nationwide, they account for 6,000 maintenance, operations, and engineering staff and, on average, 10% of EDF’s electricity production.

    • Ministry for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and the Sea (MEEDDM)
    • National Office for Water and Aquatic Environments (ONEMA)
    • National Association for Elected Representatives in Mountain Areas (ANEM)
    • France Hydro Electricité (UFE)
    • Societe Hydrotechnique de France (SHF)

  • Invest in Balkan region!

Bosnia and Herzegovina has about 3500 MW of unused hydropower potential. Macedonia about 5500 GWH, of which only about 27% are used. Montenegro, although it is only a small country, has an abundance of hydropower resources. The planned re-commissioning of 15 small hydropower plants in Serbia is another example of the rapid developments in this region. And even in mountainous Albania the first projects of international small-scale hydropower investors have already been realized.

7 reasons to invest in the Western Balkans:

    1. Prospective EU membership
    2. Macroeconomic stability
    3. Strategic location
    4. Favourable taxes and cost
    5. Diverse economies
    6. Well-educated population
    7. Excellent Hydro Power Projects available

  • Hydropower is focussing on Africa's future!

Hydropower today supplies 32 percent of Africa’s total energy supply. However, with a current capacity of 20 GW per year the Hydropower potential is only used by about seven percent. Many hydropower projects are funded by a development cooperation between Europe and Africa.

Connection African and European developers and investors!

In 2017,  the Small Hydropower Chapter of the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF) organised a hydropower workshop in conjunction with a matchmaking event during the RENEXPO INTERHYDRO.

Both events have been organised in cooperation with the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP), a multi-donor programme that supports the development of markets for renewable energy in Africa.
